and it also depends on what you are talking about, something like liking the beetles cant really be compared to child abuse. although it really does depend on if they were really abused, because teachers sometimes get charged with child abuse when they havent done anything.

so to be honest, it really does depend on the situation, and i dont think that anyone should judge without understanding every detail of the situation.

Well, that hit me when you said that people 14 and under are immature and unintelligent. I'm under 14-years-old and I'm almost smarter and more mature than the average 16 year old. But that's beside the point. I agree with you on the whole age thing. But could you help me here.....

I deal with a problem that is vise versa from what you've said, my mom is 47 and her boyfriend is 20. What is up with my mom, what is she doing? The relationship sucks too, they fight every other night, no kidding. I realize the reason older guys go after much younger girls, but what's with the older women dating the teenage boys?

What good would it do for schools to let people in who can't do the work? And some people who do exceptionally well in academics are not gifted with good genes, they actually work hard and study.

They aren't sampling peoples DNA or creating an all blond haired blued eyed college. It's not the same thing at all.  There are PLENTY of colleges out there for below average students.

And I'm sorry, but I DO want to live in a world where people are tested for aptitude and intelligence before being give a job. No matter what that job is. You DO NEED to be capable of performing it.

While I agree that colleges show a level of discrimination, I don’t think it’s to the level you do.  There are many state schools and community colleges where the only basic criteria is a GED or a high school diploma.  If you can’t achieve either of these, you don’t want to go to college badly enough, and most likely don’t deserve to be there anyway.  But the most serious flaw in your logic is that a college education automatically leads to a good job.  Having a degree doesn’t guarantee a good job, just like the lack of one doesn’t prevent you from getting a good job.  Are the odd in your favor if you have a degree?  Of course, but that just shows the qualifications that colleges don’t really measure, i.e. “street smarts,” persistence, loyalty and reliability.  Some of the smartest, most successful people I’ve met didn’t have college degrees, and I’ve met people working jobs making less than $10/hr. that had degrees, but were either lazy, dumb, or in some cases, just unlucky.  Sorry, but I don’t buy your argument on any level. 

At the end of the day, colleges and universities need to have discriminative criteria as to who gets a place. Yes, some people will be denied a place - I am applying to Oxford, and probably won't get in - but that's life.

Its an interesting point but I dont agree. Surely a "smarter" person will benefit more and be able to use any qualifications gained better than someone not so gifted? Is it fair to let "inferior" people take up valuable college spaces and leave people who could really excell?

Yes, its not nice to be refused a place in further education for not being good enough but isnt it a thousand times worse to be refused a place at somewhere you have worked really hard for, where you deserve to be, just because someone not as able as you has taken up a place?

While I agree that there is certainly an unfair element of discrimination in college selections, and that there should be a higher level of vocational apprenticeships and alternative opportunities, to make the immediate and rather tenuous connection that to support higher education is to support Hitler - and as such, the genocide of Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, the disabled, black people, and a number of other denominations - is frankly laughable.

wow that is alot to think about. i had to read it twice to make sure i understood what u were saying. i agree with you in a sense, but like you said, sometimes a persons code of ethics have to change with society and with the situation in order to acheive the goal on hand. i do belive tho that if you change them for everything than there is no point in having them at all.

sounds really philosphical (if thats a word) by any chance did you take it? I understand where your coming from, and it's really interesting, but what switches us to crave and want in the first place? what makes us want something more than the other? and when we get it why do we always want more?
